Training Your AI Chatbot

Your AI chatbot learns from content you provide. The more relevant content it has, the better it can answer customer questions.

How to get there: Go to Setup → Chatbot in the top menu → click your chatbot → expand the Training section in the sidebar (AI Coach, Performance, Website, Files, Text Snippets, Tickets, Products, Q&A, Exact Answers, Quality).

Training Sources

Website Pages

The most common way to train your chatbot:

  1. Go to Setup → Chatbot in the top menu, click on your chatbot, then go to the Training → Website tab (under the Training section in the sidebar)
  2. Click Add Website
  3. Enter your domain URL
  4. Boei will crawl and discover pages on your site
  5. Select which pages to include in training
  6. Click Train to start the learning process

Tips:

  • Include your FAQ page, product pages, and documentation
  • Exclude pages with duplicate content
  • Focus on pages that answer common customer questions

Upload Files

Train your chatbot with documents:

  1. Go to the Files tab (under the Training section in the sidebar)
  2. Click Upload
  3. Select PDF, Word, or text files
  4. The chatbot will extract and learn from the content

Supported formats:

  • PDF documents
  • Word documents (.doc, .docx)
  • Text files (.txt)
  • Markdown files (.md)

Sitemap Import

For larger websites:

  1. Go to the Training → Website tab (under the Training section in the sidebar)
  2. Click Import from Sitemap
  3. Enter your sitemap URL (usually yoursite.com/sitemap.xml)
  4. Select pages to include
  5. Start training

Managing Training Sources

Page Status

Pages show different statuses:

  • Green - Successfully trained
  • Yellow - Processing
  • Red - Failed (check the error message)
  • Gray - Not yet trained

Retrain Pages

If your website content changes:

  1. Select the pages that need updating
  2. Click Retrain
  3. The chatbot will re-learn the updated content

Remove Pages

To remove content from training:

  1. Select the pages to remove
  2. Click Untrain
  3. The chatbot will no longer use this content

Best Practices

  1. Quality over quantity - Train on your most helpful content
  2. Keep content updated - Retrain when your website changes
  3. Focus on FAQs - Common questions should be well-covered
  4. Test regularly - Ask your chatbot questions to verify accuracy
